On Wednesday, 25.05.2022.g at ŠRC Trnje, Zagreb Association of Sports Recreation “Sport for All” marked the World Sports Day within which a public forum entitled SPORTS RECREATION OF THE CITY – REALITY AND PERSPECTIVE was organized, which was attended by representatives of numerous city and state institutions. Representatives of the Office of the Mayor of the City of Zagreb and the City Office for Education, Sports and Youth, the City Office for Social Protection, Health, Veterans and Persons with Disabilities, the Sports Association of the City of Zagreb, the Teaching Institute of Public Health dr. Andrija Štampar, Croatian Institute of Public Health, Croatian Association of Sports Recreation “Sport for All” and others. In addition to discussing the state and future of sports recreation in the City of Zagreb, within the EU project Hepa S – Health and Fitness Assessment for Seniors, educational modules and a sports pilot program were presented, which is implemented in all partner countries on the project (Croatia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Slovenia and Serbia). Development of manuals for educational modules for Sport for all trainers, fitness experts (kinesiologists) and general practitioners and implementation of the Sports Pilot ProgramModul 1 – for Sport for all trainers, fitness professionals (kinesiologists)This module includes informal education on the implementation of recreational sports and physical activity for the elderly (65). Within this specific module, a general program for the elderly will be developed (65 ) taking into account the 3 types of the most common health conditions (back pain, cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis). Module 2 for GPs – “Green Prescription – Prescription Physical Activity”This module will be developed to ensure that GPs raise awareness of the importance of physical activity for the elderly (65 ). They will be introduced to Module 1 and educated on the importance of prescribing physical activity for disease prevention and for patients with medical conditions. After the education of doctors and trainers, a sports pilot program for the elderly is carried out (4 months in all partner countries). 30 participants will exercise three times a week for 55 minutes. In addition to designing and elaborating a general program for the elderly (65) that will be implemented as part of the pilot project, a SENIOR FITNESS TEST will be conducted with all project participants twice (initial and final measurement) in order to determine the impact of the program on the motor and functional abilities of the respondents. This project aims to encourage the physical activity of the elderly to remain vital and healthy in mature years, and special attention will be focused on the elderly in retirement associations, the elderly who are at home and in retirement homes.
