Fitnes učilište (Fitness academy) is a registered adult education institution which tends to contribute to raising the quality and standards of services in the fitness industry through education of top experts and creation of motivation for their continuous professional development.
The specific aim is to offer a balanced curriculum with vocational knowledge and skills as well as a development of competencies in a fitness sector and by doing so to enhance participants’ opportunities for employment and/or further studies.
It was founded in 2012 and it is the first private Fitness academy in Croatia. It operates in three cities, Zagreb, Split and Rijeka. It offers various vocational and educational programs such as: basic training programs (Fitness instructor, Group fitness instructor, Pilates instructor and Masseur), professional development programs (Strength and conditioning coach), specializations and seminars. Its programs are accredited by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and are officially recognized. In addition, Academy is the first educational institution in the Republic of Croatia to have harmonized its programs with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) in the field of fitness.
Training programs for Fitness instructors, Group fitness instructors, Pilates instructors and Strength and conditioning coaches are verified by the European Association for Fitness and Health (EHFA) which enables the participants of those programs to enter the European Register of Exercise Professionals (ereps).
Fitnes učilište staff is highly qualified and they are continuously learning and developing new skills. There are 31 professors teaching numerous courses and so far, 800 students have graduated from the Academy. Currently, 60 students are attending programs. The number of students wanting to enroll in training programs is growing by each year. With high quality professors and professionals, this Academy is a source of knowledge and competence in fitness. Not accepting the level of practice they came across, the founders agreed to form an institution that will, on one side, understand the trends and gaps in current vocational practices in fitness sector and, on the other, give the best knowledge along with the practice.
It is the first institution in the region to harmonize their program with the European standard, which means that, when graduated from the Academy, students will be recognized as professionals with an international certificate. The Academy is a member of EuropeActive organization. The Academy also cooperates with Croatian institutions such as Croatian Institute for Public Health, Teaching Institute of Public Health „Dr. Andrija Štampar“, Croatian federation for sports recreation “Sport for all”.
The goal is to create professionals who will understand the importance of continuous education and to promote health-enhancing physical activity.
